HURD HOUSE
STARKSBORO, VERMONT. 1980. This is a small house (1000 sq. ft.) sited in a big landscape of hilly meadows looking out towards the Champlain Valley in Starksboro, Vermont. Centered around the wood-burning stove, the open plan includes kitchen, dining and living room. The fact of the gable stretching across the long dimension of the house, along with the scaled-up columns supporting the corners of the porch roof, engage the big scale of the landscape.
