CONWAY, MASSACHUSETTS. 1999-2000. Blue House was built for a couple in a densely wooded landscape. It slips through the trees, sited to take advantage of south light slanting through huge white pines and views of rocky fissures that open up in the near distance. The program centers around an open, ‘easy going’ first-floor living space which flexes into loosely defined seating, dining and kitchen areas. A second major program element houses the many books of the art historian client in the library hall of the second floor. The rest of the program consists of three bedrooms, two baths, and a two-story study. The house is 2600 sq. ft., not including a basement.
